Ángeles San José (Madrid 1961) is a Spanish painter with a long exhibition career complemented by obtaining numerous scholarships and awards.1

Graduated in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid in 1984, she began her artistic career by exhibiting at the Machón gallery in Madrid. Her work at the beginning was material that will evolve towards more intimate solutions. Influenced by the German painter Gerard Richter.2​

San José uses painting in a very personal way, combining it with photography and drawing to construct monochrome images using the minimum elements. San José works in a serial way in both his pictorial and photographic works. His painting offers subtle nuances in the specific treatment of color and material, with values ​​that reveal the differences in their chromatic gradation and density.
