Collection: Francis Bacon

Francis Bacon (Dublin, October 28, 1909-Madrid, April 28, 1992) was a British painter with an idiosyncratic figurative style, characterized by the use of pictorial deformation and great ambiguity on the intentional plane. He was the author of 584 paintings and around 600 drawings.

The aesthetics and themes coined by Bacon in his paintings inspired diverse artists and creators, both in the visual arts and in dance and film. Among the fine artists who were influenced by Francis Bacon are David Hockney, Carlos Alonso, Ygael Tumarkin and Norbert Tadeusz. Damien Hirst deeply respects the visual legacy of Francis Bacon and recognizes it as a crucial reference in his artistic work.
