Collection: Gerardo Rueda
Gerardo Rueda Salaberry (Madrid, April 23, 1926 – May 25, 1996) was a Spanish painter and sculptor, related to the history of Spanish abstract painting of the 20th century. He founded the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art in Cuenca, together with Fernando Zóbel and Gustavo Torner.
On the occasion of the 1962 Venice Biennale Gerardo Rueda wrote the text: “Venice 1962: On the margins of the Biennale”, in which he shows his concern for the attention paid to the dramatic and gesticulating aspects compared to the disregard of artistic content. The Círculo de la Amistad of Córdoba organized an individual exhibition dedicated to the artist the same year. Participates in the exhibition of Spanish painting held at the Tate Gallery and traveling to various English cities (Southampton, Hull and Liverpool).
His work is found in major museums and collections around the world.
