Helmut Middendorf (Dinklage, 1953) is a German neo-expressionist painter.
Between 1973 and 1979 he studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, with Karl Horst Hödicke. In 1977 he founded the Galerie am Moritzplatz in Berlin, together with Rainer Fetting, Salomé and Bernd Zimmer. Member of the group "Heftige Malerei", composed of Fetting, Salomé and Bernd Koberling, they represent a second generation within German neo-expressionism. His main theme is the city, the urban environment, in which he finds a constant source of inspiration.
