Collection: Joan Claret

Joan Claret. Barcelona, 1929 - 2014.

Painter representative of the constructivist current in Catalan art. Composition, rhythm, movement, formal structure and spatial organization are the reflective constants of a meticulous work that does not recognize improvisation. In his works, colors are arranged in essential planes of light and shadow, subtle gradations of white, black and gray that provoke a singular sensation of space in the crystalline and abstract extension of geometric proportions, creating the illusion of a third dimension. In 1976 he was awarded first prize at the Joan Miró International Drawing Contest.
