Collection: Josep Guinovart

Josep Guinovart i Bertran (Barcelona 1927-2007) was a Spanish painter, draftsman and engraver.

After studying at the Lonja school and at the Promotion of Decorative Arts in Barcelona, he won a scholarship in 1953 from the French Institute to take a five-month trip to Paris.

Upon his return to Barcelona and after a season working on illustrations and set decorations, around 1957 he began a shift towards abstract art, his unconventional work, he uses three-dimensional elements almost constantly in his works, most of them also large format.

In 1994, a Museum was inaugurated in Agramunt dedicated to his work, the town where his mother was born and where he has always been linked.
