Collection: Lucio Muñoz

Lucio Muñoz Martínez (Madrid, December 27, 1929-Madrid, May 24, 1998) was an abstract painter, one of the greatest exponents of Spanish informalism of the second half of the 20th century.

Critics highlighted the expressive power of his painting, full of mystery and with a great presence of nature. To this we must add his graphic work (with decisive technical contributions to large-format engraving) and the mural works, among which The apse of the Basilica of Aránzazu, in Oñate (Guipúzcoa), and the mural that presides over the Plenary Session of the Madrid Assembly stand out. The ceiling of the exhibition hall of the Casa del Cordón in Burgos is also his work.

In 1983, he was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts9 and in 1993 the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts.
