Collection: Peter Klasen

Peter Klasen was born in 1935 in Lübeck (Germany). As a child, he manifested an early vocation for drawing and painting. He studied at the Berlin Higher School of Fine Arts between 1956 and 1959.

Klasen creates a personal plastic language: the artist explores and reinterprets the signs of our urban environment and, more generally, of our society. He is passionate about the images constantly displayed in the media and denounces with pictorial metaphors the standardization of the Western framework of life. His art is easily identifiable, coloured, presented in a way that is readable by everyone and after a few difficult years he finally achieved success in the 70s.

Throughout his career as an artist he has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions, as well as obtained various awards in both national and international competitions.
