Collection: Second Matilla

Segundo Matilla y Marina (Madrid, 1862-Teyá, 1937) was a Spanish painter who lived and trained in Catalonia.

He stood out as an excellent portraitist, proving to be very effective in mastering the technique, although it was his landscapes and seascapes that made him famous. Among his disciples, it is worth highlighting his nephew, the painter Joaquim Terruella and the no less important painter Antoni Rosell Altimira, both Catalans.

His work can be found in different museums, including the Prado Museum in Madrid or the National Museum of Art of Catalonia in Barcelona, as well as in important international private collections.
